Lots of bad information in this thread....

If your transmission fails or starts slipping after replacing the transmission fluid and filter, then it was going to fail anyways.

If it ain't broke , don't fix it.....

Mine hit 200K this am. It has never been serviced. I might have had add a little here and there but nothing to major. I'm working on a new built and stall for "when" it gives up the ghost but going to ride it out untill then.

I agree^^^.. I would also agree that if the trans hasent been serviced in 100k i would not have it flushed but i would drop the pan change the filter and refill..

You don't want to do a "flush" but a total fluid replacement. This can be done at home.

What's the difference between a flush and total fluid change? How does one go about removing all of the fluid?

My transmission was never serviced for 284k. I dropped the pan changed the filter and added 5qt's of dex 6. Transmission still shifting fine, with no signs of slipping, will do another drain, refill, and filter once i do an oil change.

if you find a reputable shop with the BG fluid exchanger you will not have a problem. it uses the transmissions pump to exchange the old fluid with the new fluid. my gtp has had its built trans "flushed" with this machine 3 times, my sierra will be getting it in a couple of weeks too. hope this helps
