i have often wondered this. the old saying "don't spray through a shift on a stock trans" how much of this actually holds any truth. turbo, blower, whatever other forms of forced induction you don't lift, can produce as much torque, but you don't lift on those, why just the bottle?

am i missing something here?

How large of a shot are you talking about? Dry or wet? 150 or less with a good trans, I'd spray through the shifts, if everything was setup correctly. Problem with a wet shot is that the PCM/TCM doesn't know about the extra power being generated, so the line pressure on the trans won't be as high as it should (this is accounted for with a dry shot, or forced induction, since the MAF reads the additional air mass). This needs to be accounted for in the tune.

You can spray through the shifts and its going to last just as long as the stock trans behind a blower..

It's not really an old saying. A stupid saying but not an old one. I don't know why anything would think the shock of letting off and on the nitrous would be easier on a trans than just keeping it on. Maybe my thinking is flawed

I used to spray through the shifts with no tq mgt on several different transmissions. I would be scared to on a 6l80 though, I would get a window switch for my car if I sprayed it. Otherwise, on a 3 or 4speed auto, let it eat.
