Default transmission wows

Hey guys need some help ASAP! My truck is down....symptoms: no movement in D, no start from a stop in 3, manual 1 and 2 and R work great, can manually shift into 3rd once up to speed but once stopped no movement just "neutral". got a code for solenoid b malfunction. I'm in need of ideas as i'm too frustrated to mess with it anymore.

truck is a 2000 rclb 2wd 5.3 4l60 fluid isnt burnt and no clutch residue in pan. has alto red clutches throughout, beast sunshell, vette servo, hd-2, tb stall, new wiring and shift solenoids. It worked excellent for 4 weeks and now this..

Thanks for any help guys

The issue is not a solenoid. You have a sprag that has failed. Vince B

Any idea on possible causes? lack of lubrication, too many shims in the hd-2, incorrect installation? i'm in a battle with time and dont know if i should tear it down replace the seals and gaskets and whats broken and go on my way or if i should just take it somewhere.

Hard shifts might have contributed to its failure. However if you are still using the factory sprag then that could be an issue. We use an upgraded Borg Warner sprag and have had very good luck in our FLT built units.

I've had that issue TWICE. Stock sprags suck! They don't like taking hard shifts. The BW setup has taken a few high rpm dumps into gear after waiting on the fluid pressure to catch up. Vac mod helped avoid that.

BTW, if this is a DD, I'd take the washers from the HD2 out of the trans (unless race firm shifts are what ya want).
