THE Tru-Cool 40K GVW Transmission Cooler Install Thread
#31
For those interested, here's some pics of my setup.
While u can save a few $ by goin to non-swivel fittings at cooler side, I think I would just spring for the more pricey 45° swivels.
I used 3 of these, but if u have room, u may be able to use 4 (unlike me). If not use 2 after the 1/4 pipe - 6AN adapter outta trans, & 1 on lower rad conn. I used a Earl's p/n 90° AT809106ERLon upper. The lower rad fitting is kinda tight confines to tighten w/. AN wrench, but doable.
(2) 90° swivels would be needed at cooler as well.
Total of (4) of these, 2 @ rad, 2 @ cooler.
DO NOT crank the daylights outta these 1/4 pipes into the trans, or you'll have big problems!!!
You need 2 to go at trans.
If u don't wanna use the last fitting I listed, here's another brand below, but it does the same function. Russell's make their version too. http://www.purechoicemotorsports.com...rod/prd177.htm

Looks good Richard. I sent u a PM as well.
Also, pay attn. to what line is what (feed or return) for trans. My AN line was a bear to fit into that brkt. near starter the factory uses for their tranny lines. I think I secure it to the brkt. w/. ziptie or 2.
I also used zipties on my firesleeve. Maybe I didn't need firesleeve, but I didn't wanna risk AN line being close to headers.
Oh ya, if you or someone needs some black -6AN straight fittings, I have 4 or is it 6? Summit sent those, but I went w/. different angles. Forgot if I said that.

My buddy has beem using push loc hose on his trans cooler for 7 years, Id think he would have problems by now if that were true. No trans problems either. I personally think you will be perfectly fine with push loc, the only downside to push loc IMO is heat resistance but if you use a heat sleeve its no big deal.
