Good point, the cooler itself comes with everything you need for a simple install. This thread will point out alternative and more trick, cleaner methods. There are multiple routes to go, but I've noticed three basic install routes...

1)Basic install using hardware supplied with cooler (use supplied brackets and cut to fit)
2)Replacing factory lines with AN fittings and steel, nylon, or pushlock hose (can use supplied brackets, make your own, or even use the EAD brackets without purchasing the hardware)
3)EAD brackets with factory hardlines to and from cooler

The AN route is the most "trick" IMO, but also the most expensive. The EAD route is also very trick, and the most factory, but some guys are weary about the compression fitting (as was I, but so far so good )

Well said. You're wise in your old age.

I couldn't agree more that full AN end-end isn't cheap. Especially if u go w/. more expen$ive AN hose like I did (I used the Earl's ProLite, it's almost 1 1/2-2x, if not close, to what regular Earl's or other AN goes for. Just as we do things to bulletproof our rides, sometimes a weight penalty is incurred to do so. I didn't need to run ProLite, but chose to. Regular AN is fine.

Why do guys worry bout that compression fitting so much?

Guys seem to be concerned with leaks as the compression fittings can be tricky to set up sometimes, and I think that some folks are weary about cutting the factory line I guess. There may be some concerned with pressure, but they shouldn't be, not sure what those fittings are rated at, but I know that it has to be more than what they'll see while installed on that trans hard line. When I was younger I used to have problems with them, but as I got better with wrenching and got more of a feel, I haven't had a problem with one for years. It's very easy to over tighten that soft brass fitting if you don't know what you're doing...and I've read of guys somehow getting the fitting crooked...not sure how that happens

I believe these same parts will work. The only difference (I hear...) is the return on the 80e is at the back of the trans, so that hose needs to be a foot or two longer.

408 is going to need a lot of work so I went ahead and ordered this stuff to keep me busy in the mean time.

the 80e also needs the little nipple on the trans fitting for the internal oiling. so that part would be different then the 60.

sorry to hear about your motor to man. that sucks

Those wondering about doin this for the 80e READ the thread, I already covered what fitting is needed, and how much further back the fitting is.

Finished today using the list I posted earlier in the thread. I made two lengths of about 8 feet so I have 4ft of extra if I need it for anything. I also have enough slack where I can use this on an 80e if I need to. AN hose fittings are tricky if you have never done it before. And getting to those trans fittings was a tight fit for sure.
