Default Truck Feels like its taking off in 2nd and then CLUNK goes into 1st.

Ive been noticing some hesitation at take off on my cammed 2002 Silverado 5.3 PerformaBuilt Level 2 4l60E with 278mm Circle D 3200 and 4.11 Yukon gears and Yukon Dura Grip locker.
Ive noticed that when I take off from a stop or red light the truck feel as if its taking off in SECOND 2 or 3 seconds later CLUNK its goes in to FIRST and drives away normal.
It has also had the same hesitation going in REVERSE. Once it gets rolling everything feels normal shifts thru all the gears nice and crisp and converter locks up as normal.
Any input on what could be causing this, any help is greatly appreciated.

My stock 60E did this on occasion too. It was pretty rare though, maybe once every couple of months.

the thing is that it doesnt do it everytime its pretty random.... with my luck it probably wont do it when its connected w/hptuners and will probably be the first thing it does once its disconnected...

My dads truck would do the same thing. A couple times a month it would just take off from a stop light in 2nd then finally downshift to first after. Replaced both shift solenoids in the trans took care of the problem. I think they are only 15-20 each, good time to change the fluid and filter while the pan is down too.

Yes very easy to replace. Just pull the pan and you will see them attached to the valve body. They each have a 2 wire plug IIRC. We bought the solenoids at the dealership since they were not that expensive to begin with. Yes his is a 2000 ecsb 4.8 4L60 truck.

Here is a pic I found on tech. Dont mind the yellow circles, the two shift solenoids have the yellow arrows pointing at them.
