True bolt on rear 15" wheel and 5 lug swap for 99-04
This swap is nothing new, this thread is more for documentation purposes since I've already received 1 PM on the parts and prices and whatnot.
Parts list:
5 x 4.75" stock replacement axles from Moser - $350 shipped
I ordered mine with 14mm wheel studs (same as stock truck). They also dual drilled them for 1/2" studs at no extra charge. 14 mm should be plenty strong, the next option up is 5/8 studs but you would have to make sure your wheels can accommodate studs of that size. Moser claims these axles are 30% stronger than stock, added bonus.
AC DELCO 18FR743, 18FR744 - Semi loaded front calipers $30.79 each + shipping
ACDELCO 18A271A - 1990 OBS K1500 regular cab (w/o F44) front rotors. $31 + shipping, requires 2. There are cheaper rotors available on rock auto which are probably of the same quality.
Redrill both rear rotors to 5 x 4.75 by Moser - $87 shipped
ACDELCO 17D368M - semi-metallic pads for both rear calipers $25.79 + shipping
Custom caliper bracket from Oakley 6575 - Not available yet, but I've been bugging him about it.
Now, the whole point of swapping to 5 lug is for the vast array of wheel choices and more economical choices. You can get Billet Specialty wheels for $250 each from Summit! As of now, Bogarts and Holeshot are the only companies I'm aware of making custom 6 lug drag wheels. Racestar is supposed to have a 6 lug 15", but who knows.
There are tons of choices out there for 6.5" backspace, however, in my case with a 6" rear drop (flip kit) I need more backspacing since I'm going to be tucking a big tire back there, the MT 315/60/15 DR. With a 28" tire, 6.5" backspace should be just fine.
Racestar 15 x 10 7.25" backspace are $183 shipped each off the shelf for the polished version, should work perfect for me. These wheels require shank style lug nuts, I plan to use McGard lugnuts.
As for the front end, I haven't exactly decided what I want to do yet, but 1320 wheels is offering brand new Timken hubs with 5 lug pattern for $219 each. A more economical option is for me to send them my stock hubs to convert for $90 each. I need to see if they can do them with 14 mm studs. Their site says they come with 1/2 studs.
I'm planning to do this swap next weekend, assuming I can get all the parts by then. The swap should be very straightforward. It involves pulling the axles out, removing the parking brake (this mode deletes the parking brake), removing the stock backing plate and bolting on the new custom backing plate and installing the calipers, pads, and bleeding the brakes. I do know that the stock brake lines will work with the OBS calipers, however, I plan to upgrade to the Russell SS braided lines.

Bogarts may be as cheap in total, however, can you get the street/strip Bogarts with custom backspacing? With 5 lug you get a plethora of wheel choices, most directly off the shelf. The used market is also much better for buying/selling. Once you surpass the initial cost of the 5 lug swap, only benefits will be realized.

Ended up going with the Racestar wheels. 15x10 7.25" backspace. Got the wheels and 14mm shank lugnuts for $348 shipped. Just put the order in for the 315/60 MT ET streets. Oakley is supposed to have the caliper brackets done by the end of next week. So hopefully I should have this all done within the next 2 weeks.
I really wanted to go with the Billet Specialties Street Lites but given the choices of 6.5 or 7.5" BS that wasn't going to work for me with the flip or 315s (7.25" is the max BS without hitting the leafspring). Beauty of the 5 lug swap is that I can change wheels easily in the future if I want.
