Default Truetrac guys, What lube?

Just got my truetrac and gears on my front porch today. I'm not sure when the install date will be, so I'm gonna go ahead and get the gear oil I need.

What weight and brand are you using? I've read to only use conventional oil with aftermarket lockers, is this true? Also, will I need to add the limited slip additive?

Thanks

There was a couple of threads on this a little while ago, just use non-synthetic... Brand of your choice...

TruTrac is a mechanical lsd, no clutches. Run a good synthetic, no need for friction modifiers at all!

See, thats what I'm talking about.

Synthetic or not

Is the difference critical, or is it like motor oil, which would be personal preference (or how much money is in your wallet)

you do not need a synthetic but I believe in freeing up as much as I can. You can use all the dino lube you like, you do not use a friction mod in it though

PM me a price. I've already gotten an offer for $100-150 for the install, through a friend. The guy works at a GM dealership and does gear installs on the side.

I'm still saving for a tranny from you btw

You going to the meet?
