the older 8.5's use a smaller bearing and sometimes they send those bearings instead of the ones you actually need.

I got my truetrac from Ron's Machining on ebay and they really seemed to know what they're doing, so I'm sure they sent me all the right bearings. Can't wait to get this thing in, and I'm especially looking forward to seeing how it performs at the track on the 31st. The thought of actually getting some real traction makes me weak in the knees.

I know what ya mean lol Really looking forward to getting that monster in. I've read over the install "instructions" several times, and it really doesn't seem all that bad. No pictures, but hey. One trick I have picked up, (if you want to call it a trick...more like proper procedure), was making sure that the dial indicator is set to a right angle against the surface being measured...at TWO different axis'. Not rocket science by any means, and really am looking forward to getting in and working on it. Should be fun

Finally got the Truetrac installed. So anyone know about the proper break in procedure for the Truetrac? So far most of what I've read says that the gear oil just needs to be changed after 500 miles. The question is, can I get on it or how hard can I get on it during that break in period? Taking it to the track on the 31st and not sure if I'll have 500 miles by then.

If you just installed the trutrac and kept the stock gears you dont need any break in. I'm pretty sure gears is where you need 500miles then change the fluid out.

if you just swapped in the trutrac and kept gears, go smash the go pedal. no breakin needed. infact to test the thing it says to put one tire in dirt the other on pavement and hit the gas to check it for operation.

That makes sense nickpc82 and 4.8T. lol oh and I saw that about testing it in the dirt in the Truetrac installation manual. Nice to see they believe in their product. Guess I gotta go and start smokin these new Toyos.

*Update: Had some fun with the Truetrac today and was VERY impressed. I can instantly leave twin tire strips and traction around corners is amazing. I LOVE how fast this thing locks! Can't believe I was driving around with that cruddy G80 for so long....
