Default Turbo/4L80e guys...how many are running stock Converters?

Still tossing around the 80e idea, but from a financial standpoint i cant afford to do the swap and a nice 1k dollar converter, so.....how many have stock converters and how are they doing? I know lonslow has one but anyone else??

My truck is getting the swap now. I will have a stock converter with my procharger for the same reason. With that said though, I'm coming from a stock 4l60 with a stock converter too

I ran one for awhile. It would brake stall to 3000-3100.
Did isky cam, built 80e and stall. The stall was wayy too loose so i sold it and got a yank. Ended up not liking how loose it was and fighting issues. Sold everything and went back to stock 80 and Tc.

Mine came from a 96 6.5 diesel and I'm using that converter. Its extremely tight and stalls up to a low 1500 behind my 350. A guy I know has an 80E from a 99 6.5 diesel behind his turbo'd 6 liter and his yank just went bad and he put the stock converter back in and he can get almost 2200 out of his. I would kill for a stock gas 80E converter for mine.

I love(d) mine. It works and it doesn't slip at lock-up how much more could you ask for?

I could ask for it to weigh about 30 pounds less.

Good thread OP! Glad to hear that everyone kept the stock stall. I picked up a 2100(ish)80e converter because like the OP I dont have a G to put down on a converter.

My stock converter will brake to 2200 rpms. my trans has 201K on it and works perfect. Except i believe the solenoids are done because it just started to go in and out of lock-up in OD.. Not turbo, but stout NA motor.
