Twisted axles splines 10 bolt
No symptoms from the rear end, however, was pulling the rear axles today and found twisted splines on my driver's side Moser axle. Passenger side was normal. I'm leaning towards exceeding the limit of the 10 bolt versus a bad axle from Moser, but I know others have gone faster.

Wasn't planning on it, they'll probably just come back at me saying a 30 spline axle wasn't meant to handle that stress. And I couldn't argue against that.
Now, upon searching a bit, I have found a lot of people with twisted Moser axles. So I'm not sure if I should try again with my stock axles or start looking for a 14 bolt out of an SS.

Like George C says go 9 inch and don't look back. For all types of racing, the basic design of a 9 inch is far superior. There are also plenty of upgrades the faster you go.
The 9 design has various advantages over the 14 bolt:
A larger cross section at the axle bearing.
Multiple spline options for different levels of power.
Multiple custom axle options.
Multiple spool, locker type options
Larger selection of gear ratios.
Various Brake options.
No C-clips to worry about.
Much easier to brace up.
Gear set ups can be done on the third member itself while it's on a bench.

What's the cost of one of those Ford 9" rear ends. Isn't it going to end up being over 3k?
I can get a junkyard 14 bolt with evertything on it and 3.73 or 4.10 gears for $1000-1200. I can sell my current rear end being worth at least $500 (trutrac and AAM 4.10 gears). And I can swap over my rear brakes or just run the 14 bolt drums, both of which would clear 15s.
At this point, it's all about cost to benefit ratio because I'm tired of dumping money into an old truck which is only worth about $4000 based on age and mileage. I just want a 10 second slip and be able to drive home.
Just out of curiosity, would the twisted axle be a reason I could never leave the line without spin after my first ever 1/4 mile pass on the drag radials? That first run it dead hooked 1.63 60' and since that point it could never hook up cleanly.
