Default Unloading Torsion Bars???

Getting ready to replace the front end in my Tahoe including ball jointsx4, tie rod endsx4, pitman, idler, control arm bushings, sway bar bushings. She's getting loose at 145K hard miles and I don't want to think about more front end work for at least 100K.

I have 2 questions.

1> Anything else you could suggest like wheel bearings perhaps?

2> What's the trick to unloading the torsion bars? My Helms manual shows a C-Clamp-type special tool but doesn't really explain how it works. I really don't want to make a mistake with one of those so any suggestions would be appreciated.

THanks in advance.
