Default Vibration after new u joints..........

Hey guys- after I put the new u joints in and they were a little stiff- didn't move as freely as I thought they should, I get a vibration between 45 and 55mph. I've read about hitting the ears with a hammer. would these be the ears on the drive shaft holding the u joint cups? And how good of a smack are we talking here, I don't wanna distort the shaft...... TIA

HAPPY NEW YEAR

In all reality when you replace ujoints the DS needs balancing.

Ouch. I would take it out and find a shop to balance it.

Default U Joint

Hopefully you didn't bend the ears on
the yokes.the joints should move freely.

Hey guys- broke away from the family circus long enough to gut everything apart for a look. No binding anywhere now, felt really good for the run around the block.......

Took the truck out got up to 80, no vibes. I didn't reuse the cup/ joint with the smashed bearing, I had a spare u joint thinking when I was at the store I'd better get one extra just incase, and it paid off. Real happy..........

Good deal. Ive experienced rotating the front (or rear when applicable) yoke 180 out when replacing u joints results in vibes. Easy fix just go back and reverse it.
