oh sorry, anyways with your tire you can do both those drops just fine
it all depends on your budget but here is a good thread about some of the basics

Ditto here on the Want to Drop. My wifes truck 2002 GMC Sierra RCSB.

It needs new shocks anyway, and she says she wants it lowered too. So looking to get 2" front 4" rear, would like a spindle for the front and hanger and shackle for the rear. I personally have had MANY dropped and bagged trucks in the past so I know how to do it, just not sure the best parts to use these days or who to buy from. If I gotta put new shocks on it might as well lower it while I am at it, should be a 1 day job. Anyone selling a good kit? Is the original posters 03 GMC the same setup as my wifes 2002? I know they changed the body and interior from 02-03 but the suspension is all the same all the way from the 99-2007 (07 classic) right?

A different length shock should not be necessary with the 2x4 drop right? Stock replacement shocks should work? Does anyone make a good replacement leaf pack for the rear that doesn't change the ride? I am not a big fan of the lowering leaf packs or monoleafs that I have used in the past to drop the rear. And I am not big on Flip kits either. The last flip hit I installed on one of my trucks caused MAJOR wheel hop if you spun the rear tires.... Maybe I was doing something wrong? It was one of those kits with the pinion angle correction builtin or shims, cannot remember. Also more than 4" drop on the rear of her truck would likely be too low for her, she wouldn't like it so it's gonna have to be 4".

Thanks for the info!

99-07 classic are all the same , but it has to be for a rcsb

new leafs will change the ride

many people here are happy with their flip kits but you will get 5" at minimum with a lift shackle and 6" on stock shacles.
also with rcsb there are no shims needed that might have been the problem

some people run stock shocks for 2" drop in front, but for the rear you will need a drop shock or extensions

Many different ways to get the above drops. For a 2/4, most will use spindles and shackle/hanger kit as this keeps the stock springs which keeps the stock ride and towing capacity. You could also do springs in the front instead of spindles, but you ride will be stiffer. Same goes for the rear, but you will also lose towing capacity.

If you go lower than 4" in the back, you should notch the frame so you have enough axle clearance. Some even notch it with 4", but most do not and it is not needed. To do a 3/6 drop, you can do coils, spindles and coils, or control arms and coils. For the rear, a flip kit would be best IMO, but you could also use a combination of parts if you like. You could do a shackle/hanger combo for 4" and then 2" drop leafs, or you could do 4" leafs and either a shackle of hanger.

There are going to be side effects to all the components, just depends on what you want to deal with. Spindles are said to increase you turning radius, control arms are said to increase bump steer, and springs will be stiffer.

And like said, components will work the same on all 99-07 trucks

Thanks for responses to some of my questions. I am familiar with the in's and outs of different kits, and the necessary mods etc, was just wondering where to buy the kits these days? And what brands make good stuff... Back a couple years ago, it was Bell Tech, DJM, Ground Force, Suspension Techniques..... Don't know where to buy the stuff these days either...

Thanks for the info on the rear shock needing to be changed for the 4" drop too. Will probably buy a kit with Spindles, Front Shocks, Hanger/Shackle and Rear Shocks included. Just wondering which brands are better and where to buy.

Thanks!

He's got 16" wheels if I read the post correctly. I'm lookin' for some drop spindles, too with my 16" wheels. Anybody know if something like that exists? Everything I've found so far sayd that 17" and larger wheels required...............

they do have spindles for 16" rims but your turning radius will nearly double(slight exageration but you wont like it)
