A ton of people do it. Most just go 14 bolt swap, but welding yours wont hurt

I weld the center of every housing I work on.

It's a very common practice.

If your gonna weld it. Take it completely apart. Weld it. Then take the housing to a rearend shop to have the ends cut off, straightened and welded back on with the proper fixture. If you don't wanna go through that, don't do it. It will warp the damn thing quite a bit.

Blown what ends are you refering to?

ive welded a few rears that were together and didnt have warpage or issues later on

make sure to use the correct filler and procedures otherwise it will just crack

I'm really on the fence about it I don't want to have any issues nor do I want to fully disassemble the thing I've read people use a 7018 rod pre heat it and post heat it and cover with a heat blanket

Apparently a friend of a friend welds axles all the time I've seen his tig work on turbo kits I'm just gonna have him do it
