NO brand of gears if setup properly should be any louder. I've setup 4 or 5 diferent rearends now. I've used Richmond, motive, US gear & factory ones, none of them whinned any more than factory.

I've used a set of Yukons in my other truck and got them from Randy's, definately quiet and haven't had a single problem after 40k... as for the LSD.... Auburn does make nice units but they have one MAJOR flaw, they are NOT rebuildable, in my opinion that rules that out, even though they offer a discounted trade in plan for factory rebuilt units its still more expensive then buying an Eaton and rebuilding it yourself. Plus i've heard some issues of the non-Pro series burning up clutches rather quickly when beat on. As for Detriot there is no other, now in my off-road truck I use the Locker but never liked it on the street especially in city driving in bad weather conditions, mainly making sharp turns, she tends to get sideways..... what I did for my Silverado was went with the Detriot Truetrac, its a helical LSD based on the original design idea from Zexel Torsen, its silent, immediate action, and no harsh engagement, actually you never know when it actually locks up the rears.

Richmond 3.73 gears in an AUburn LSD ECTED (full time limited slip, spool by the flip of a switch!!!) The Eaton locker will break... I broke one and a buddy with an 03 z71 also broke one. So far the auburn is great. I figure if the Richmond gears are good enough for NASCAR track use, it's good enough for me.
