05 and up has the tremec TR3450

the 99-04 and some older i think have the new venture NV3500

these are for the 4.3 and 4.8 trucks, the 5.3 and 6.0 didnt come with a 5-speed in 1500 series trucks

but the 6.0 5-speed in the HD trucks was the NV4500

I saw a local ad for an NV3500 from a '92 Chevy 1/2-ton.
The ad says it will work in '88-98 trucks. Are those years
different units than what comes in the '99-04 trucks?

Thanks for the info, folks!

HELL NO . . . stay the hell away from those years, it's actually call a gethdrag (get drag) nice hunk of junk. Will not hold up to power. I went through 2, and that was with a v6. Mine was a 92

Now to clarify, didn't they do a mid-year change in '04? I thought some '04's had the NV3500 while other '04's had the tremec 5 speed? Just trying to help.......

I think the NV3500's have a single piece casting outer case, such that the bellhousing would have to be engine specific, to say nothing of the input shaft.

Find yourself a NV4500 or T56.

OKay, okay.....I replace these bastards on a monthly basis here at the dealership. The Getrag or as we call it (get a rag) and the New Venture or NV Trannys are junk!! If you had 20 of these, I woulden't give you $50.00 for all of them.

The Tremec is the only one worth a damn.
