I've had good luck out of my NV3500 in my 95. My only issues was a front bearing went out at ~80k due to the previous owner ran it an inch low on fluid and I didn't check it when I first got it. The second issue was a shifter rail part broke due to me power shifting it. The trans has 180k miles on it now and has a 400hp 383 in front of it and still living fine. All I did was replace the input ball bearing and the shifter piece as needed.

The TR-3450's gear set may be stronger but I know of more than 1 that after several hard 2-3rd shifts that it will get hung up going to third and won't go anywhere on a fast shift but do fine on slower shifts.

Just my experiences.

is it the gm tko-500 or -600? i found them and they are suppose to be able to handle 500 or 600 ftlb or torque. but i'm not sure if you can get it 4wd. i'm looking to do something for my tahoe. i'm sick of the horrible gas mileage and the auto in general.
