What Causes the Bouncy Ride of W/T's?

my 971500 rclb WT before it got crushed had some makeshift drop shackles (thanks uncle danny, you crackhead) in the rear and it road like **** on 235/75/15's real rough so i changed to 255/70/15 on 454SS rims at 40psi and it road like a caddy. Did I mention it had a reinforced tonneau cover with the new tires?
