Default What did I break in my 4L80E?

Yesterday on a 2-3 shift at wot I lost all forward gears and reverse. It has all the same symptoms as the time I broke the input shaft on a 2-3 shift but didn't make the loud bang when it broke. It now has a 300m input shaft.
When we got the trans out today the input shaft spins easy like when I broke the stock one but its different. This time it doesn't feel broken like before. You can feel that the splines are stripped out.
My guess its not the shaft splines but the splines on what it slides in? BIG? What is this part?

The pan had nothing in it to worry about.

No gear. Might be your front pump.

It's definitely the input shaft splines are stripped or what the internal spines go in. That's the part I wanted to see if I could figure out what it is and do they fail.

I'd like to see if I could fix this myself.

The input turbine shaft goes through the overrun clutch housing assembly. It connects to the overdrive planet pinion gear. It is possible to break the pinion but I am thinking maybe the overrun drum and roller clutch are damaged, or the shaft broke.

I am no expert though.

That's what I am thinking, I doubt it broke the planet.

From what I understand it seems to be common for the drum and roller clutch to fail in high millage units that are stock. That's why it's always important to upgrade the roller clutch.

Thanks for the info.

This is a FLT lvl 4 with a 300m input shaft. It has maybe 5000 miles on it.

I've watched some videos on 80e disassembly and it doesn't seem to hard to get this assembly out so I can see what happened. Is there anything really difficult about getting this part out?

Just make sure you pull TCC lock up solenoid out before you pull the pump.
I made that mistake once...

The videos on you tube are actually fairly helpfull.
