Default What ET gains going from a 30.6 street tire to 28 slick?

I am going to the 1/4 mile this weekend and just wondering what I might run... My previous 1/8th mile run was 8.75@80mph on a 30.6 street tires... This weekend I will running a 28.0 slick. From my estimations a 8.75 1/8th time is roughly equal to 13.7-13.8 1/4... I am hoping the shorter tire will help me cut a 1.8-1.9 60ft and a 13.5ish 1/4... Do yall think that is possible? Remember this is with the 4.8......

I think it'll make a bigger difference than you're hoping. All else being equal I can see you running a low 13. Not only are you getting more traction, you'll have less rotating mass and also your effective gear ratio will be better.

I don't have a good guess on your time, but I'm sure it'll be quicker, although your trap speed will probably be less with the 28.6" slicks, as opposed to the 30 radials.

Not necessarily, he will go though the gears faster but its not like he will run out of gear.

It should show gains across the track once you find the right tire presser and launch technique.

i would say atleast .2ths quicker? but with a 4.8 you'll see way better results with a 26" slick/drag radial...

I have never run on slicks before, is there any thing different I need to do with the burnout, as in longer?

How bad did you spin on street tires?

I think it's possible you could gain anywhere from 3 to 4 tenths.

hmmm, not at all honestly, that is if i do a really good burnout and stalling it up to 1200ish and flashing it... I cut 2.0X 60fts doing it that way... IMO the general grabbers uhp do very well at least for me...

Well I would still expect that will see a decent gain regardless because with the shorter tire you are effectively lowering your gear ratio which translates into more torque.

hopefully you can get it to hit harder on the slicks. maybe try flashing it from idle?
