Lol. I know you weld, i read you post about going to school. I write financial software for a living so i am not the best welder, i am decent, definitely not a pro. I have never welded something that thick so i am a little apprehensive, especially when i will be laying on my back under the truck getting showered by sparks. That is why i dont want to use flux core cause it splatters so much.

Quik i do appreciate the advice and replies

You are just mounting shocks and not a load bearing part like a coilover. 3/16" is perfect for shock tabs. Many companies make lazer cut shock tabs for cheap. I'd go that route unless you want to make your own.

PM me and I'll link you to a place to get them.

Cool thanks for the link

Here is the basic shape of the bracket. It should be pretty easy to make. It is roughly 7 inches long

some quick measurements, that will put the shock at ~18* from the horizontal... And a static shock length of about 17.75, which will work great with the QA1 TC1661P shock i bought. The specs on the shock are extended 21.00, compressed 13.50...

so a little recap:

original:
static length 17.25 @ 48* from horizontal

lower shock extenders 17.5 @ 31* from horizontal

new bracket 17.75 @ 19* from horizontal.

I think the 19* will really make a difference in ride quality
