What tires would you recommend for 17"
I'm going back to 17" wheels when my michilen 275/55/R20 tires wear out. The brand new tire and wheel combo weighed 83 lbs. Have made it 60K probably have another 10K on them so I want to start budget shopping.
Looking for a long lasting tire that does well in rain and helps with hooking up. I will figure out the size later, just looking for brands and models right now. Thanks

What type of tire are you looking for? If you want all terrains I've had great luck with my falken wild peaks. I've got over 30k on my 285/75r16's and people are amazed how good they still look and how much tread they still have. Granted I don't drive aggressively most of the time, but when I do, they handle exceptionally and when I take off from a stop, they don't spin, just hook and go

Bridgestone Dueler Alenza's are what I run, great all around tires. I also have 20's.
Firestone Destination LE2's are nice, same as the destination AT's.
Even look into Hankook ATM's for a good all around tire.
I wouldnt expect to get the 60K+ out of most of these because even though they might carry a 60k mile warranty, figure 45-50k miles is a good life. The bridgestones are rated for 70-80k but they'll just get hard once they reach 5-ish/32nd left.

Was also looking for a lighter tire/wheel combo to bring back a few poneys. I have read "in general" every pound lost off the tire is 1 hp gained throughout the power band, due to less drive train loss.

lol wanting something that will last a little longer than around 60K. Turbo = short tire life no matter what the tire haha

My buddy had a set of 285/55 or 60 Nitto dune grapplers that were awesome tire. I have been kind of leaning towards nittos. Is there a pic in your build thread of the 275/60. If so do you know what page it is on so I don't have to look through all 70+

The only positives about 20's are they look good and they seem to hook up wayyy better in rain and ice/snow due to the extra weight, other than that they suck. Truck is way slower, gets worse mpg in city and feel almost everything in the road even with the rancho 5500 shocks
