What Transmission to Buy?

I had real good luck with my factory transmission, it lasted 75K and I was spraying a 150 shot through it. It held up very well, but once it started flaring on the 1-2 shift; I just broke down and ordered a FLT Level V and haven't looked back. I have 50K on it and it's had the Maggie in front of it the whole time, not to mention still spraying it from time to time. Was I just lucky, maybe, but I think it is more of how I drive than anything as even built 65's tend to blow on most folks. I run it hard, but I don't beat on it, if you know what I mean.

Those are good recommendations, but he said he only has $1300 max to spend.
I blew my transmission (4L60E) up back in August. I broke the second planetary gear set. I went with a low miles 4L65E from a junk yard and paid extra for a lifetime warrenty, it covers parts and labor. cost me $825 total. and next time it breaks i'll get paid to fix replace it.

I think that if I was looking for a tranny for a mostly stock truck with a 4.8, I would buy a stock rebuilt unit from a reputable company with a lifetime warranty and never look back. If you could find a company that would install a shift kit and maybe some servo's along with that warranty then you would be set. Why spend the extra money on a Performabuilt or FLT when you don't need the extra strength??? On top of that, say there is a defective part in the $2500 FLT and it goes in a year in a half, after warranty is expired of course... You will find yourself scratching your head, wondering wtf you were thinking when you dished out the extra $1500 for an overkill tranny with a 1 yr. which you didn't need in the first place, when you could have had a lifetime tranny for half price.
