My buddy called me up and said his 02 Z71 was shifting funny. So I took it for a drive, it takes off fine in first gear, but it will not shift into second, or any other gear. Eventually it will slam 2nd and hold the gear. If you give it a bit more gas, it tries to kick down into 1st, but 1st won't catch and the truck just revs up really high. Definatly something wrong, the truck will stall up fine at a standstill also. One thing going for my buddy is he has the extended warranty till 100k miles and there is 62k on the truck. Its a 2002 ex cab Z71.

 

my '02 Z71 had a problem not shifting into 2nd and would bounce off the rev limiter before. It would sometimes shift into 2nd, but for the most part it wouldnt. Problem ended up being tranny problems. Few burnt clutches
