I personally feel like any good quality clutch packs will work just fine. I would think you are more likely to roll over a sprag or break a shaft than burn a clutch pack up...... James?

there are chunks in the bottom of my pan of my 4l60e. so now its time to decide. do i need to go 4l80e or stay 4l60e? i just spent $900 on a new billet converter from yank. i guess i could sell it...........

tahoe info: i tow every once in awhile but when i do it may be long trips. 1000 miles at a time. my goal for power is around 800hp. not daily, but when the need for high boost arises. the truck is AWD and will stay that way. i have 3.73 gears. I'm not sure where that will put my cruising rpm. will flt's lvl 5 work for me? or do i have to go 4l80e? i already get bad mileage due to AWD how much worse will this make it?

I'd say go for the 80e it will be cheaper in the long run, eventhough it's probably going to cost $3-4000 to do the swap (trans price included, figure $1k for a nice 80e).

who says you need an flt one?

people have very good luck with junkyard units and a transgo shift kit. Parish told me it took him into the 10s.

going rate seems to be $800-1000 for a low mile 05+ trans, but I suggest you check craigslist too because even better deals can be found. The 80e is common in the chevy vans too.
