i killed mine a couple months ago right after i installed my flowmaster. i figured i had to downshift all the time and let everybody know i had it. i'm used to my celebrity that will take all the abuse i could possible throw at it. the truck, weighing twice as much, didn't.
i was driving in my parking lot to go to lunch one day and it downshifted to 1st from 2nd. then i had no more 2 or 4. so i drove around for like 2 weeks in 1st and 3rd til i found a new tranny. lol it happened about 126k.

also, i've had my new tranny for about 2k miles and it doesnt go into 3rd right away every time. is this normal til warmup, or should i pull out my warranty papers? lol

also, i leave posi marks at least once a day getting onto the highway as i leave work.
i bought the truck at 124k back in october. so i got about 2k miles out of the original tranny.

My 4L60 had problems but didn't go BOOM. At about 30K it started slipping at take off and wouldn't go back into 1st from cruising speed. Replaced cracked lower reverse piston, lower reverse clutches, internal gear, and 2-4 band was burnt up. Now at 60k, I haven't had any problems since.

Mine is still going @ 150K miles. No mods and highway miles until
I bought it probably helps. What are the stock 4L60s actually rated for?

if you haven't gotten it programmed yet, just try to shift it as close to the rev limiter as possible without hitting it. i highly recomend getting it programmed to shift where you want it in drive though.

If you are drag racing dont put it in tow/haul mode it actually lowers the shift points by a couple hundred rpm. Leave it in drvie and punch it. Get a tune and be done with it much better and higher shifts. Rumblebox it not shifting into third is not normal. I have 4000 miles on my new built tranny and it works great in all gears all the time thats the way it should be. Pull out your warranty papers and take it back and get them to fix before it gets out of warranty. If you were still in texas I could tell you exactly where to go to get a good tranny built fairly cheap.
