No way it will live if its stock. The 80e is stout but stock it could never handle that kind of power. I know I saw somewhere, I think an episode of HPTV that some company makes an 80e with a split first gear ratio so it basically makes it a 6 speed so first gear isn't so tall out of the hole, but then again I've heard guys prefer the taller first gear so they can hook up better.

I put 780tq through the stock t56. 680hp, it had no signs of failling. I also had good holding power from the oz 700 clutch, never have I smelt any burning, and never noticed any sliping. I just thought I would throw out there, what I have experienced. I vote for the th400 and GV unit. If I had the doe thats what I would do. But I say that because I believe that is the best setup for a turbo. (IMO)

Electronics can still be used. It's going to cost around $1 for install and t-brake.

Jet electronics had a 6 speed 80e valvebody that they claimed was a gear splitter, but they stopped production. With the six speed kit, the ratios are 2.48:1, 1.86:1, 1.48:1, 1.11:1, 1.0:1, .75:1.

My 4L80 is rated at 1000hp and 950 rwtq with two year 24,000 mile warranty. It has great topend on it. On the dyno we pushed it out to 158 mph with 3.73's and a 32" tall tire. Since I put the 4.10's in it has dropped to a to about 150 in third, and I still have overdrive left. The 4L80 gets my vote.

nitro-I've seen your post over at pt on this. I recently changed out the th350 and my gear vendor setup in my 69 camaro to a 200r4 for a better od, and put the gv behind the th400 in my 67 bb camaro. It flat out works slick on the road course and it's almost seemless in the shifts, not to mention the closer ratios will keep your engine right in the power band.
When in my 69 camaro with a 500 hp 406 and 3.73 gears at 5500 rpm it pulled right to 155 and if I had'nt run out of road I'm sure it had another 10-15 mph in it, based on the limited power of the sbc.
I'm guessing in my 67 with the bb, and a 150 shot of nos it would pull to 180 mph using the 3.73 gears without a problem, at 7000 rpm.
I believe you are looking for the 200 mph mark, and with the kind of power you say you have, even with the lack of areodynamics, I think the gv setup with 3.55 gears or lower would get you there, IF your car does'nt decide to go flying first.
The 200r4 has not lived past the fuel injection dialing in stage yet, and if it does'nt get fixed on this first return, I'll go back to the gv setup. You give up a few hundred rpm's on the freeway, but I'm sure in your case it would be the least expensive, and most reliable way to get where you want to go!
