According to some older posts on another forum, Eaton has an E Locker for the 8.25 IFS under development. I emailed them in March 2004, and was told that it was expected to hit the market late 2004 or early 2005. However, I've yet to see it available . . . I have unanswered e-mails out to Eaton Traction now asking for an updated release date. I'll post back here if they ever reply.

what would be involed in swapping in a 9.25 front diff? would it bolt in from a donor truck or would there be some fab needed? I wouldn't mind the extra stength either as I am putting on 38's a little down the road. thank's

If the 9.25" could be swapped in, that would be excellent! Then, you could choose between the E Locker, ARB, Powertrax lock-rite, and the Powertrax no-slip. I'd be really interested in this swap, if anyone has some info?

Thanks,
Kipp

Just an update on the Eaton emails--Apparently, their email address is rejecting my emails. I'm going to call them to ask about the E Locker 8.25".

i dont know how many diferent fronts they have out there but i have one from a 2500hd and it doesn't look to be an easy swap. first thing is the flangs are larger. i think that would be worked around. then the flanges are 2" farthur apart than the 1500 stuff. no idea how you would deal with that.

my only idea would be to look at a 2500ld and see what parts are in there and maybe swap them all over if the frame is the same. i wish someone would try it.

I'd be willing to give it a shot if I can find a donor truck or part's from a donor truck. some how it would be possible but it would need a lot of fab if the frame's arn't the same.

i'd like to see it done to but if not you could always go straight axle. then it would be strong enough for what ever.

strait axle might have to be kinda tall. i bet you would have to go stock height to get it to fit and then figure out where to put some springs and all that other stuff to work.
