I want to keep my final drive the same. I like my revs at freeway speed where they are at too.

Did he have to trim anything for clearance in the fenderwells? The 305s on his truck don't look taller, just wider.
Stock for a 4x4 is 10.43".
Allot more traction for me!! Looks like I have to go back and look at avaliable sizes again!

According to BFG's website, my tire is almost a 33...32.9 to be exact. I think it's just about an inch taller than the 265's that it came with stock. Here's a pretty good link: Tire Size Calculator
Looks like a 285/70 R16 or 305/65 R16 will retain about the same height

A lot of it would have to do with the height too. If you go with, say, a 305 width but have a lower profile, you're gonna have problems with it crowning bad. A 305/70 doesn't seem to be that bad but it is about a 33 in. tire so it has more sidewall to compensate for the width. Just think about it; putting a 12 in. wide tire on a 6.5-7 in. wide wheel. Its a pretty big difference.
