HAHAI know the difference between a flex plate and a flywheel. I've changed a few auto transmissions and replaced a clutch, the ring gear and throw out bearing on a manual. I just thought a flex plate was called a flywheel and a flywheel was called a pressure plate. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I know I'm defiantly not a mechanic but everything I've tore apart I've been able fix to get back together. I guess you could say I'm good with my hands haha.

pressure plate is part of the clutch assembly. it gets its name from either the slave or throwout bearing applying pressure to the friction disk which then is apply to the flywheel. but im sure you knew that right?

Trans from a LT1 car (i.e. '97 Camaro) is not a direct swap into a GenIV car/truck. However you can swap over a 98-02 Camaro/Firebird 4L60 to a 99-06 truck by swapping tailshafts.

the thing that is different that the 97 4l60 has a small pump a B29 converter and the output shaft for the 3rd and 4th gear drum is smaller. what you have there is a new version of the 4l60 with the big shaft, more veins in the pump, and the B85 converter. that version of the 4l60 does come in a lot of trucks from 2000 and up. all the older cars have the other stuff. so you can make it work but you have to get it rebuilt. the bell housings are exactly the same, i know because i have a transmission shop ok.

This is correct. The 97 unit out of the fbody is not worth your time or effort to make it work. The 97 unit also is a one piece main case unlike the later models that have a removable bell housing. Vince
