will a stall cause your tranny to blow?

I used to I have a PI 2800 which was very loose and generated a lot heat. However, I've made about 500 drag passes (mostly between 12.8's-13.7's)on it with no cooler at all. And it finally started slipping after 71,000 miles of abuse. That was a stock 60e. Something like that will probably never happen again!
I can't even imagine how loose that 3800 is which is causing a lot of heat and not helping the situation. I've had mine rebuilt professionally almost identical to the FLP 5 and I love it! IMO you should go that route. The 4l80e is waaayyy overkill for your setup and would probably dissapoint you greatly. That's mostly for heavier vehicles and 10-low 11 sec.'s. From what I hear the FLP 5(65e) will be safe for single cab trucks with ~550rwhp or more!

What he said ^^^
I think you asked what will the 80e do?
well...the 60e really isn't a good tranny to be pushing a big 13 sec truck, however some ppl can ride them forever, you just happen to have an odd situation... 65e or the 80e is better... just bc they are heavy duty and can handle... 550rwhp plus (like 12sec5.3 said) and i dont think many of us are close to that.. so i suggested the 80e bc its better to be safe than sorry....
also... have you been paying for everytime this guy goes back under-there to fix it?

The truck will run 13's all day long and the only reason I am running a 3800 stall is because Vicki at PI recamonded it when the converter burnt up. I use to have a 3200 and vicki told me it looked like it was not stalling high enough so she bumped it up. I know one of you stated I should not upgrade to the 4l80e but why? Also I'm just trying to find out if my stall can be causing my tranny problems. I drive my truck everyday so I need a tranny I can put in and not have to worry about for many miles to come.

You can change the lockup settings with the tune, to keep the heat under control. Although 3800 seems really high to me, my 3000 has run fine with my stock trans as well as my built one.

well let me ask this do you think I should just get another built tranny from flp or someone like that or have this one built somewhere else? I have heard after you build it a few times it is harder to keep it working. to answer the question I only had to pay for 2 full builds, and parts on another

i notice that you have a transgo kit as well as a westers tune. is the westers tune bumping the shift pressure as well as the transgo. i shredded my 4l60e one night and after researching it was determined that using the tune to bump line pressure and using a shift (transgo) kit was what did it in. i may be wrong but that is my understanding.
