I think 4.56s will help you at the track (crossing at a higher rpm), and also it would feel better daily driving with that loose converter you have.

I think it will help. I just swapped to 4.56 from 3.73. I was trapping 101 and i was in 2nd gear @ probably about 6300.

Ya i was kinda hoping it would help with the daily driving... currently i have to keep the rpms under 2.5k to get decent mpg in stop and go traffic. the only problem is that it struggles a little bit in those rpm ranges...

a 6.0 is about 6 months out, trying to do something in the meantime cause i am bored with the truck... the problem is that my converter will flash to damn near 4k at part throttle, trying to keep it under 4k is rather difficult... for those who have ridden in my truck can vouch for that..

honestly for your 4.8 i wouldnt run anything less then 4.56 with a 26" tire, if you run a 28" then run 4.88s. on street run a 30" tall tire to help with rpms

as for who thinks MPG suffers if Skeet keeps his foot out of throttle he sees 15-16 mpg average with 488s, 4500 stall and a healthy 6 litre

Cool you will like the 6.0 a lot. And I hear ya on getting bored. For me I usually do a round of mods then spend about two months getting the bugs out wondering why I ever started modding the thing. And contemplating burning it to the ground. Then I drive my sister's Honda and I love it again. Lol

Now back to regularly scheduled thread. Those new gears would pull like a beast. Now will you outgrow them with the 6.0 is the question.

perhaps... I would love to swap out the 4.8, i just cant afford the 6.0 right now, with us just buying a house a few months ago and me finally contributing to my 401k going again i cant afford it... Plus when i do the 6.0 i gotta send my heads off to get the heads checked out probably have to get a valve job and I gott buy a new cam, etc, etc......

I make peak horse @ 6500 on the graph and I dropped .3-.4 sec (depending on DA) and picked up 5 mph with nothing else changed but going from 3.73 to 4.56

Sweet I would be happy with half of the gain you got, that would hopefully put me into the 12s NA...
