Default YANK SS3600 vs. SS4000 Track Results. Back to Back comparison

I did this review last year and thought the truck guys might like to see it as well.

I Have been using YANK's SS3600 for 2 years and I absoulutly loved it but started to feel I needed a little more to get the truck out of the hole. I ordered a SS4000 with intentions of back to back comparisons and here are the results.

Naturally Aspirated

Best From SS3600 Aug 24, 2007 -- 3675DA
RT ... .244
60' ... 1.698 (My Best ever w/3600)
330 ... 4.872
1/8 ... 7.551
mph ... 91.27
1000 ... 9.903
1/4 ... 11.877
MPH ... 116.59

Best From SS4000 Aug 31,2007 -- 3525 DA
RT ... .190
60' ... 1.558
330 ... N/A
1/8 ... 7.366
MPH ... 93.68
1000 ... 9.713
1/4 ... 11.685
MPH ... 116.53

WOW what a difference in how the truck 60 foots... Its actually stalling to about 4400. The Shift extension N/A is 1000RPM, I did make one shakedown nitrous pass. A 10.86@124MPH through the mufflers. (mufflers were off on passes above) The Shift extension on the Nitrous passes was about 700 rpm.

I made 7 passes On the SS4000 Every single one had a 1.55x sixty foot. Slowest pass was 11.70@116.1 Fastest is shown above So the converter is very consistant.

I am very happy with the converter. I will have to do a little more nitrous testing to see what it does.

Thanks to Dave at YANK for taking care of me. This was my 5th converter purchace from YANK.

I have since turbo'd the truck and switched back to the SS3600
Best time with new setup
9.88@140.68 with a 1.49 60'

Thank you Yank for an excellent converter.

WOW! Great pickup...60' and truck. That's a great comparison, thanks for the post on this. Tells a lot for guys looking to get more at the track but thinking they have no more room to go. Just goes to prove the MPH is a "symbol" of power too. Stayed the same (of course) but knocked .14 off the 60' and of course .19 off the 1320. Congrats on the nice mod.

just looking for a little clarification....its brake stalling or flashing to 4400 rpm?

1000 rpm shift extensions is nuts. there were not any power mods in between? i noticed your MPH in the 1/8 jumped about 2.5mph.

There were zero power changes at all. The converter would flash to 4400 not brake stall. The MPH in the 1/8 im not really sure the reason other then harder acceleration due to the slightly higher STR on the SS4000

I always wondered if that little bit of converter change would make that big of a difference. Thats good to know! How does it drive with the 4k stall? trans temps go way up on the street or about the same?

The manners of the converters were very similar. It was noticeable that the 4400 was a little bit bigger but I wouldnt say by any means that its to much for a street truck or DD for that matter.

Temps were the same between the two

usually the people who have never driven on a torque converter. i just installed my new converter last sunday. it was built to flash 500 rpm higher than my last converter that got me 1.69 60' times. hopefully the results are as good as blacks! i doubt it though hahaha.

the converter thats made to flash 500 higher feels about the same as the last converter. i can now brake stall to 2500 rpm instead of 2200 rpm. not a huge difference at all

do you remember what it brake stalls to black? in my experience the yanks are pretty loose compared to the fuddles.
