The composite bed only reduces total weight by 50 lbs. plus 15lb reduction for the tailgate. Total weight savings: 75lbs. Read about it here: http://www.gm.com/company/careers/ca...truck_box.html

.4 better because of my new decals, and I stay on the ground past 190mph thanks to my HUGE wing on the back of my truck. Undercar lighting also lets people know I mean business.

That's an interesting link. I guess I got jipped with my bed, its metal, at least it was when I welded on it. Are you sure your truck is 3000lbs on earth and not the moon?

So that bed is a composite, but it's not a "carbon" composite.

Anyway, I have to say that my flux capacitor really helped out a lot when racing the tooth fairy and the easter bunny. But Mr. Fusion is definatley the best bang for you buck!

First off, 0-60mph time isn't really the pinnacle of measuring straight-line performance. Second, the g-tech is accurate enough to give you an estimate within 2 tenths of your quarter mile time while being about 5-7 mph OFF. Unless your truck is pushing 350-400+ hp to the wheels, you're not getting it to 60 in under 5 seconds. I don't know what my truck does 0-60mph; but I do know that it runs a 14.866@91.33mph in the quarter.

FWIW, as a reference my truck is a rcsb 4WD w/ 4.8 and Radix, and weighs an even 5000 lb with me in it. According to HPtuners (which I suspect is more reliable than g-tech, as it measures vehicle speed directly from the data bus) I do 0 - 60 in 5.7 sec. Keep in mind that this is actually quite fast. Most 1960's muscle cars did 0 - 60 in 6.x to 7.x secs. (see www.musclecarclub.org) and the Corvette is in the mid to upper 4.x's. Therefore I'm afraid I find it very hard to believe that someone actually makes a 4500+ lb. truck do 0 - 60 in the 6.x range with just e/i/h mods.

Some of you guys are quick! For what it is worth, the 5000 lb (or so) brick that I drive with intake, exhaust and tune typically runs 0-60 times in the 6.3-6.5 sec range. I would suspect the SS and Denali awd trucks would be a little quicker with the same mods.

So what kind of carbon composite bed are we talking here? What kind of matrix did you use? What epoxy or resin did you use. Is it a isotropic, isentropic, orthogonal matrix, what? Did you do it yourself and just use pre-pregs? You must have a hell of a big *** furnace and vacuum bag. I doubt your truck weighs 3000lbs, especially with all that stereo equipment.

Oh yeah,

"V8 4.8L 294 CID
Dyno-ed at 394.8 rwHP
and 415 ft/lbs. Torque"

Not from a no heads, no cam, no headers 4.8. I don't want to be a dick, but when you **** with the 4.8, you **** with me!

Go to the track, or get a good gtech, enter in your real wieght, and talk about that 0-60 time. A stopwatch is a useless as **** on a bull!

Sorry mods, I couldn't contain myself.
Read the damn posts dude.. didnt use a stop watch... i went to road atlanta... other ppl on this post used gtech or a stop watch...

HAHA! that car domain page doesnt have half the **** ive done to my truck on it.. dont bs on me... I got tired of updating that page... my truck dynoed that at my last mod. I'll get a print out next time i go to get my cam in and tuned.

I have a buddy where I live that has a rcsb 4.8 with 4.10 gears, a Futral cam, 3000 stall, and some various bolt-ons and he's running a 14.4 in the quarter. With some sticky tires he should be around a 13.9. A Corvette runs high 12's stock, but the 0-60 time is a little under 5 seconds. So I'm going to have to raise the on the 4.5 0-60 mph claim too. But like I said before, 0-60 doesn't really matter. What does your truck run in the quarter?
