I have an 01 gmc 2500 HD crew cab 4wd with a stock lq4 motor with a few upgrades such as pacesetter long tubes, full 3in dual exhaust, CAI, 160 thermostat, stock 4.10 gears and 33 inch tires. I am wanting to get some more horses out of this motor. I was wondering what you guys reccomend. I am considering putting a larger cam in this motor however i want to make this mod without having to change the heads or anything else. Please give me some suggestions. This is my every day truck! I also cinsidered just milling the stock heads on the motor. Thanks guys

cam swap is the best bang for the buck at the point you are at now. usually, all you need other than the cam is springs and pushrods

A mild cam will help out a lot, and a tune would do too. How much are you looking to spend on mods tho?

What lift and duration? I am wanting to spend less than 500.

You can get a tune and a small cam to work with all your stock stuff, but the most improvement would come from the tune there. You can get a bigger cam and get more gains, but you would need a bigger stall, springs, and pushrods.

Lots of people run comp cams 212/218 but you can probably get away with more if you get a tune after.

The 4l80e Transgo shift kit is a nice upgrade. Er what tranny do you have?
