Default 01 4.8 won't start

We have a truck at work an 01 Chevy SCSB 4x4 with the 4.8 that isn't running. It just died the other day while driving. We changed the fuel filter but it didn't help at all. Also the fuel pump is only 50k or so miles old. We have changed pumps in 4 other trucks and they are all still running right after 75k or so miles. The truck BTW has 210k miles on it. When you crank it, it will sort of run sometimes for as much as a minute (it never runs really well, kinda hesitates) but then it just starts to die and turns about 200RPM's then just sputters out. Sometimes it won't crank at all. We tried the MAF sensor from another truck and it didn't work, the MAF from this truck did work on that truck though. Any ideas or do you think this 400 dollar fuel pump went out after 50k miles? Thanks for any help.

I don't have any way to check fuel pressure, but what would it tell me if I did? Regulator..... Pump......

My truck has done this before with no codes, and still no codes. Now she won't even fire up unless I spray a bit of gas down the TB, put it all back together, and start it. She runs just enough to burn that little bit and dies.

I have already done the fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, complete sea foam treatment.....

Sorry to hijack your thread maximum....... Hope the info helps you out too...

then its a fueling issue, Fuel pump relay or fuel pump is bad could possibly be loose wires. connections.

under the hood in the fuse block. Look under the lid and it should tell you which relay is for the pump. To check it have someone turn the key over and listen for a clicking sound coming from that relay.

So if it clicks it's good? Then that would just leave the pump being bad?

I've heard on here it's a bit easier to change the pump by removing the bed, or possibly just unbolting it and lifting the front up high enough then supporting it with some blocks? The tank is just under 3/4's full..... and I have no were to put that much gas.

If it does not click its the relay, if it clicks i would buy a fuel pressure gauge from a autoparts store and hook it up to the fuel rail to see if it is getting pressure.
i would hate to see you remove the bed only to find out the pump was fine.

Also listen for a fuel pump whine you should hear it when the key is turned to the on position.

you could remove the engine cover and remove the black plastic cap next to the passenger side fuel rail and use a screwdriver to bleed off all pressure then try starting it again then go try bleeding it one more time, if no fuel comes out your not getting pressure.

i find that it is easier to remove the pump with the bed off.

I have heard the pump whine when the truck was running before, but now when I turn the key on there is definitely no whining. I'll try the screwdriver trick and see what I come up with.

How much would one of those gauges run me?
