Default 01 tahoe stalling and dieing

my sister has an 01 tahoe with a 5.3L. only thing aftermarket is a drop in K&N filter. she said it started dieing on her today. sometimes it would restart and other times it wouldn't. it would also act very sluggish. with the pedal to the floor it would barely go.

Sears auto dept checked the alt and batt and both came back good. they think it might be the computer fouling up. a

anyone have any ideas or suggestion.

mileage is about at 100,000 and i don't know if she has ever changed the fuel filter. maybe once and thats it.

I would say the fuel filter is clogged.
The pump might be shoot too.
If you don't change the filter on a regular time frame it will kill the pump.

you may have damaged the mass air flow sensor when u installed the air filter. i think there is a good chance that, that maybe the problem

sounds like a few things. some of the guys here already mentioned.

it could be possibly one of these:

- put in a new fuel filter first (needs to be done anyway, plus it is cheap)
- put in new plugs and wires (i think they last 100k miles on our trucks, i would replace it with the same AC delco plugs and wires)
- trying spraying some brake cleaner on the MAF sensor and make sure there are no leaks in the intake tube at the TB and MAF

hopefully the pump did not burn out due to a clogged fuel filter

forgot to add it might be a bad IAC valve, but that shouldn't be a problem at cruising speed. i don't think the truck would be sluggish due to that.

sounds more like the truck isn't getting enough gas or spark

the filter was on my truck back in 01 when i purchased mine. to be honost it is probably dirty and lacking of oil so i don't think it could have messed the mass air up.

i just think her truck needs some attention. it just gets driven with regular oil changes.

Mine did the exact same thing when one of my spark plug wires wore out. You might check those. If it is just barely touching anything in the engine compartment it will eventually wear thru and this will happen.

I would check everything these guys have mentioned, but it sure sound like the fuel filter to me. May be needing a new fuel pump soon if the filter is that clogged.
