Good info

But why not order a custom cam with ALL the specs you like and run it straight up?

Although technically speaking you should be degreeing a cam before installing it but you know what I mean.

I would be ordering a 116 +6, then run it straight up. But if you buy an 01 LS6 cam (the topic of this thread), then an adjustable timing chain is the answer.

Gotcha. the 6deg would be ground in. When I originally installed the 02' Z06 cam I was gonna do the timing chain and advance it 4deg. Guess I was heading in the right direction. Should have tried it LOL.

I've personally run the 01, not the 02. But looking at the specs of the 02, I bet it would be nice if it were advanced at least 4* in a truck. You should have tried it.

Hey tex, what about the comp 9 way adjustable timing chaing and sprockets. Its cheaper than the 4*adv4*ret. If that is better could/would you go more advance, say 6 or 8* on the 01 ls6 cam? Also reco's on retainers and pushrods?

if you were to buy a '01 Z06 Cam, advance it 4. what would be the ideal time to shift?

The more adjustable the chain, the more options you'd have. I doubt you'd need to go 6* or 8*. I'd try 4* if it were me.

If you advanced the 01 LS6 cam 4*, I'd say shifts would be close to 6000-6100. In stock form, it pulls pretty good to 6200-6300.

How much do these adjustable timing chains cost.
