anyone know how well the 4L65E will hold up to the 6.0 with a sts kit?

On a standard turbo I would agree with you completely. One thing you are forgetting is that on a standard front mount kit your exhaust after the turbo is a restriction to the combo. On an STS kit the turbo is the last in line so it is your restriction, not the exhaust itself. Problem even with fron tmount turbos is that they require special manifolds to work.

Think of it this way. The turbo is like a tiny hole at the end of an exhaust pipe, do you really think going any larger on the pipe upstream of the turbo and it's tiny hole are going to make any difference?

I just don't see how it can make much of a difference as do many other turbo people wether it be standard or rear mount. If someone was willing to do a comparo I would love to see headers make a big difference as I still have my AS&Ms sitting in the garage. But until someone documents it I just don't see it working.

On the 5psi base kit sure. Anything in the 10+psi range I highly doubt it will last long. The SS guys are blowing their trannies l eft and right with big boost or nitrous.

So by your definition putting headers on a rear mount turbo wont make a difference?! So if it was supercharged headers wouldnt make a difference? Assuming that boost is boost. A perfect example of headers making a difference on a turbo car is the Buick Grand National. The turbo on a GN sits on the front right of the motor right off the exhaust manifold. The left hand bank uses an exhaust manifold with a cross over pipe to the right bank. Swapping out the left exhaust manifold for a header and a mandrel cross over is a large gain in power on the GN as it would be for any turbo car. If you are putting more air in the motor (read boost) you need to get more out. If the exhaust is freer flowing it will get the exhaust gas to the turbo easier relieving lag on your upgraded STS and producing more power. Another good example that improving flow on the exhaust will yield more power would be cat or no cat. Its the same principle of freer flowing exhaust. You gutted your cats didnt you?

Well my 02 Denali ran a 10.3 in the 1/8th when it was stock. It was in crappy humid alabama summer weather. So maybe alittle faster than that in good air.

i would expect the posted truck to run a 15.0-15.2.

as for headers, i also believe that they are underrated on the sts setup also. other turbo guys are going with header assemblies and getting gains out of them. there isn't any proof because i don't think anyone has tried it yet on an sts truck. air going in still has to make i out....

I quess ill just have to take it out to the track and see what it will do. After i get a couple of miles on it first.
