04 z71 need mod opinions
This is what I got... I got a 04 z71 ext.cab. 5.3 its got a generic program, an cat back exhaust.. I been looking into options like a cam swap an coverter, maybe even swap to an LS1.. Either of witch is readily availible to me. I am the head mechanic at a Chevrolet dealership so the labor is free, GM parts are cost plus 10%. Will i see an improvment with a 06 ls2 vette cam and springs??? I would really like an aftermarket cam with a loppy idle... What converter?? Headers??? I've already had a pile of NOS on this truck, and am tired of replacing burnt valves lol.. But with an est. 275 shot, broke parts are to be expected.. Sure does mess with people when I am beating ls1 camaros lol. I want to step down the NOS to like a 125, and get more REAL MOTOR horsepower out of it.. I have access to a few rebuildable LS1s. Are there any gains with these?? GIVE me your opinons... Cam choices that are proven to work.... etc..

Why don't you get a crate VHO (LQ9 6.0) engine and swap it in?
Then you'd be starting w/ 345 hp and a lot more tq, put a cam and exhaust on it and that thing will fly with a shot of n2o too.

sorry to be a butthole, but you are insane for spraying a 275 shot unless you meant 175 LOL.. its no way I would even think of spraying a 275 shot on anything.. thats alot for a built N20 motor lol
See my mod page in sig.. I have the same truck with everything done execot for heads..
2600 or 3000 stall is nice, I wouldnt go bigger than 3000 though in a 4x4.
I ran a 210/218 114 cam at first.. couldnt hear it at idle but it did notice power gains. I went to a 220/220 114 cam which you can barely here. I shoulda went with 112 LSA though for more lope. For a 4x4 anything over 220/220 is getting big due to the weight of our trucks
my next mod is going to be WCCH heads sooner or later
hope that helps
