05 Chevy 1500 trans question...
I have a similar question to Baumgardner2051's ( https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=314613 )... I have a 05 1500 silverado 4wd with factory transmission. Im fixing to order radix in the next few days, but was wondering a couple things:
Will the factory tranny hold up? I only have 4000 miles on the truck.
If the transmission goes down on me, think warranty will cover it? I have read somewhere where this happened to someone with a charger, and the warranty did cover the transmission, i think they even said they built it a little stronger when they fixed it under warranty.
I dont even know what transmission the truck has in it... dont know a whole lot about mechanics to be honest... im assuming i have the 4l60 of some sort... but not sure.
Any help/suggestions/comments are greatly appreciated

Yes you do have the 4l60e all of the light duty comes with that tranny. From my understanding the 4l60e will last you only for a short period of time with that kind of power. You are definately going to need to upgrade the tranny to handle the extra Horses. Im not sure if the factory warranty covers that because of the aftermarket blower. I would recommend either swaping for the 4L80E tranny (HD) or a stronger built 4l60e...........I would go with the 80le HD depneding on how much you want to spend. It'll cost you more for the 80 but it'll be worth it in case you need to go with more power. It's made to hold some serious Power!!
