Ok, I hope you are correct. Another very knowledgable member here stated that the beefier rods were not started in production into the 03 LQ9's which would have left me with the weaker LS1 style rod. Mine is an 02 LQ9. Just curious since I plan on pushing my LQ9 in the near future.

The LQ9 rods have always been stronger, beefier then the 4 rods. In 2005 ALL the 6.0's went to the ls2 rotating assem's. .

You're just repeating what you've read on here. I want official specs from GM.

This is what I read here too...supposedly somewhere in 03 there was a production change (I have yet to get a chance to examine my 03 block to see what rods it has...). I was told to look for casting numbers on the rods, and if I see 123 or 145, they're LQ9 rods...

Well according to GM all the LQ9's have them, but like everything thing, you need to take what they say with a grain of salt. My truck is listed as having a 4L80E in the sales literature, but we all know regular ½ ton’s never got an 80. I'm sure some overzealous person putting the literature together assumed it had an 80 as all other trucks equipped with a 6.0L in 2001 had one.

Bottom line is if you don't trust what the documentation say's, you’re going to have to pull the pan and look for yourself.
