07' 2500 6.0 Vortec = L92/l76 ??
i recieved a 07 model 6.0 from a 2500 a few days ago, but the block is cast iron and the head marking is "823"
do i have a l92 head 6.0 ?
the casting number at the rear of the block is
12578181 and it has the 6.0 cast in the rear as well.
i wont be able to remove the intake till tue. to verify the inatke ports
any one know more specifics of the engine?
engine has 100 miles.

The 6.0 in the HD is based on the L76 except it has an iron block and doesn't have AFM. the intake ports are the same between the L76/L92. I'm not sure if the valve sizes are the same between the heads.

That engine is an LY6. All of the new 6.0L's in the trucks use the same cylinder head. Many call them the L92 head because it makes them feel all warm and fuzzy, but really it's just the new standard head for the 6.0L and 6.2L. What this means is that the new (gas engine) 2500 series truck gets a 6 speed auto, 6.0L, big flow cylinder heads, 4 bolt throttle body, decent flowing intake manifold, and variable valve timing. That's a setup that is just waiting for big improvement.

Got me one of them.... Love the 6speed. It keeps the engine in the powerband nicely. With the tune and tq mgt gone, it shifts just right.
thinking about sliding in the LS2 cam I took out of the Goat....
