07 Cadillac Escalade 6.2 build
I have an 07 Escalade with the 6.2 and vvt. So far I have speed engineering 1 3/4 LT headers dual 3” with x pipe into a 3” ory pipe with a Borla crate muffler into a 3” dual black tip Cai and a tune. I’m needing help with what can I should go with a vvt cam or do a vvt delete. Also is there anyway I can change my gears since it’s awd? It’s my dd so drivability is a concern.
I’m trying to get around 450 hp or close to it. I will be adding some kind of FI or giving it a shot. All of your advice will help

Are you opposed to doing a torque converter?
Yes you can do gears

^ as mentioned above, gears are fine... just have to do both sets at same time.
could always just bolt on a supercharger.
tune it, along w/ your headers, catback & CAI... should be close to ( or just a bit over) your HP goal.
wouldnt even need cam, unless you just want it ;-)
then add a converter for more HP to ground & make a little faster
then chg pulley to increase boost & retune, but dont go w/ too much boost w/ stock internals... for too long.
from what i've read.... most keep around 10-ish #s...12max for stock internals & it keeps reliability.

I’m not opposed to a torque converter. Also I know I’m sitting at 160 atm so getting it freshened up I might as well put a bigger cam in there. Then those superchargers aren’t cheap. I’m guessing 3.73 or 4.10 should help it out dramatically

what gears do you have now? im thinking prolly 3.42
3.73 isnt much of a jump
are you running larger tires or towing much?
have you looked at this chart? its assuming 1:1 for trans gear, so OD not taken into consideration, but its good food for thought

I’m running regular tires for now and I hardly do any kind of towing. I’ve been looking to upgrade my rims and tires to maybe some 24s on 33s. Then again I could put a 2-3 drop on it and just run 22s that’s stock

guess it will really boil down to the kind of regular driving you do, mostly city or hwy
or will it be fun toy for stop lights & track?
i enjoy the 3.42s in my burb. i only have a 5.3 w/ magnuson 1900 for now. its a hoot
i'm looking at building up a 6.2 & swap that in at some point in future
i'd concentrate on the motor stuff, headers & supercharger & tuning, first.
then look into converter
^ as that will def. put a big smile on your face
then look at gears
but thats just me.
eta: if you do still think you want gears, i'd lean more towards 4.10
although your fuel mileage will take a wee bit of a hit LOL

You will have close to the same money just buying a super charger as swapping gears, torque converter and cam. The supercharged truck will SMOKE any cammed only na truck. Plus, the supercharger is removable and still marketable after your done with it. I’ve run mine for 5 years and have multiple buyers lined up for when I go to a larger charger. There are no downsides to going supercharged other than you can’t stay out of it, drive ability is like stock.

This is honestly a dd/play toy. I do a lot of hwy driving and from time to time red light play. This is one of the first suvs I’ve had that I can actually put money into and see my progress. Eventually I’ll be able to do a supercharger however I want to take it to another level once I get all the bolt-ons that’s available for it since me and my son can do them. Once it’s time for cam gears torque converter and supercharger I’ll have to put it in the shop. Once this project is complete he wants an 80s model elco so I have to have something that’s always a step above what he wants
