Default 08 Sierra 1500 5.3 headers

Is it worth installing performace headers (shorty) and keeping the rest of the exhaust OEM?? note that I have CAI fitted in my truck

I'm 2 clicks away from buying gibson headers and thought I'd use some expert feedback from the guys here

Thanks!

Everyone is going to tell you that they (shortys) are a waste of $ and to some point I will agree. Save your cash and get a free flowing muffler and look for a deal on this site for long or mid tubes.

thanks.. i read ppl's reviews here about shortys... but I use my truck off-road too and I read somewhere that long tubes will not be as useful in mud/sand/rock??? not sure if this statement is correct

not true. shorties can be found cheap though, if you are looking for that extra 7 hp.

if you would rather spend a bit more, and pick up 15-20 hp, i would go for LT's

I have heard good and bad about the gibsons, mainly about the flange warping. I have had the short and longtubes, both made by pacesetter. Didnt notice any gains with the shortys and full exhaust, but with the longtubes and full exhaust it woke up. You may look into some midlengths also.

so is pacesetter the best option i have right now?

I checked their website and it showed that it's only available upto '07 Classic but not the NBS.. the other thing is that it says it is for off-road use ONLY.. what do they mean by that?!!!!

Pacesetters are a good choice for the money, but I am sure there are better brands out there. Dynatech has some, AEM also.
