Default 08 Silverado 5.3 Intake System

We built this for my truck yesterday. Here are some pics.

We dynoed the truck after the intake. On 87 octane it made 265/299. Not bad for an otherwise stock truck with some tuning.

How about a Ram Air kit?

I like the carbon fiber tube. Do you think you could lay some over your manifold cover, and dress it up some?

Looks nice. Your 5.3 (I'm assuming) put down more than my LQ9

We used that cf enclosure to keep the heat out of the filter. It was something that was sitting around. I don't really want anything else carbon fiber. I have no interest in showing the truck to anyone, just wanted to get working on getting it breathing.

Yep, it's an 02 6.0 rated at 345/380. It put down 267/296 in 2nd gear. They really must have beefed up those 5.3s

I wonder if the ones rated at 345hp had clutch or electric fans?

Don't forget that you dyno'd in 2nd gear, also.

My dyno was in 3rd gear, so that definetly helps explain it.

I understand about wanting to keep the heat out, but not suffocate the filter. I'm assuming that you're source is from below and the nose of the cone is open?

You're using a dry filter, correct?

So why not go with ram air application?
