Default 100mm MAF for LSX

100mm MAF for LSX

see im running into an issue with my new duct work being 4" to fit the 90mmtb and that the stock maf is 75mm which is small and a restriction. i was going to go SD but found this. this might just be the ticket

SD is a good tune but can be dangerous, and this will still be in the lines of a MAF tune

I wouldn't call SD dangerous... unless you were running off an untuned VE table with both OL and CL disabled. If this were my setup, I'd save the money on the MAF and spend it somewhere else.

Also, the link didn't work.

I agree with your logic. If you have a speed only tune it can be extremly safe, as i am running in it now. But I will also add that that the speed density tune can not compensate as quickly as maf for changes in air density (iat variance) & this is how the general commands fuel logic by figuring the molecular mass of incoming air.

My only concern would be how well or accurate is this device. As well as the longevity of it. I have witnessed a bunch of eratic behavior from aftermarket MAF'S before.

The big question is when does that one max out? The ad says they used it on the 725hp twin vette, but no hint of max flow.

Can't remember exactly what your plans are Quik, but was thinking a lot of boost?

Quik is going NA. 408 with the L92/L76/ 90 mm tb 1 7/8 headers with svo 42 injectors and a 4" air intake with a healty size cam, hoping to see 7k rpms

turbo was out of his budget

I was nervous about tuning speed density, until I actually did it. Heck even my litlle 99 Cavalier is Speed Density, from the factory...lol.

Is he doing his own tuning? If not how will he compensate for the changes that will naturally occur with the ve table everytime the weather changes?

I am in no way knocking SD tuning, I am in SD now but evertime the weather changes your ve calculations are off. Plus the mathmatics for figuring the MAF is much more precise with a faster sampling rate (record the waves on a lab scope & play them back). If speed density only was the way to go
then i find it hard to believe GM would not have gone to MAF+SD.
