Uhhhh......that may be true, but my post still holds everything as stated as being the truth. The oil needs to be thin when very cold outside so that it can circulate. You don't want in flowing like syrup right out of the refrigerator.
Not trying to bout with anyone, just stating what the numbers mean.
Like I said, I use 5w-30, and it is still on the full line when it's time to change it every 4,000mi.

With some oils there is a penalty for having a wider viscosity range than other oils. Mobil 1 is one of a small number of synthetics that needs no modifiers added to the base stock for its 5w-30 product to meet viscosity requirements. Modifiers are not lubricants and therefore reduce the percentage of actual lubrication in the volume of product. The less of that stuff you need to get the base material to perform right, the better. There are detergents and other additives as well, but in smaller percentages.

For the price, availability, and above-all the quality of it, Mobil 1 really is the best value in my opinion. (I wouldn't go so far as to worship it or condemn non-believers to burn in eternal hellfire the way certain merchants of a competing Group-IV PAO sometimes do.)

I run Mobil 1 5w-30 even though I'm in CA because I have a 160-Degree thermostat. The coolant thermostat temperature is more important than the climate you're in, it has a major affect on oil temperature.

what is so special about royal purple?
secondly..since we are talking about brands.... what about amsoil?

I think the last time i got castrol full synthetic 5-30 because it was on sale or something...

I did notice ALOT of people prefer mobile 1 synth, after doing some searches... it has the lowest ash content

I dunno... I remember back a few years when I was in diesel/ heavy equip school and we had an oil guy come and talk to us...
Pretty much said that most are the same...with the exception of what detergents they use. Because they all have to meet standards.
The only major difference was how much and what detergents they used and if it was synthetic or not.
BTW... if try to add that one full syntetic bottle to conventional oil that you filled up with... it doesnt work like that... they wont chemicaly bond to make simi-synthetic
