Default 12" wide rims? suggestions?

I wanted to change my back 2 rims to 12" wide timeless 6's and they want an extra $450 per rim ontop of the $410 for an 18x10!!!!! Do you know any company that makes a 12" wheel? I need to buy some ET streets for the track, but I want traction everyday. I planned on putting some BFG drags in 315/35/18 size on them. They call for 12" rims. My friend has some 11" camaro wheels with Nittos like I have in my sig but in 315/35/17 size and they grabbed ALOT better than my 305's do. My tires grab OK in the summer but in the cold the don't grab worth a ****! Is that normal for a drag radial?

By the way I want some caltrac bars. I know you have to "preload" them before you run on the track, but will that help my traction around town if I leave them loaded all of the time? Will my ride be bumpy? Thanks.

Not sure on the traction bars, but I've been looking into doing 20X10's or 12's on the Sierra.

There is one company that makes large diameter wheels in the 10-13" widths, and that is iFORGED. They are a branch of Intro Wheels. I happen to know Bryan Stern, the Truck/SUV guy at Intro and he said that they are looking to expand their truck market. Might want to give him a call, and tell him that Scream referred ya.

The wheels ARE NOT cheap, but they definitely look to be some BADASS rims! I'm going to look into switching over to some iFORGED wheels sometime this year, if I can save up the loot.

I really like this wheel...I can just imagine my truck mini-tubbed with 20X12 Aero's in the back on 345/25/20's tires:

iFORGED Aero

And just for the record...check out tirerack.com. I found out that they make several 305 and 315 section-width 20" tires.

Just FYI.. no tire is going to hook up well on the street when it is cold out. Unless I am missing something on you truck, I dont see anyreason your 555Rs shouldnt be doing the job for you. As for the 12" wide wheels, I would think you are going to have fitment problems with them. But good luck on your search.

I checked out those iforged rims, and they definately are hot. light as hell too... but $1000+ per rim is a little steep for me.

thanks for your help

Can you ride on ET streets on the street? I only work 3 miles away from home. Will it hurt to ride on them to work a few days after I go to the track? As long as it doesn't rain?

I wouldn't drive around on the e/t streets if i were you. I have done it twice and it isnt fun. I dont see why you cant hook on the 315's that you are running now. I run 285's and i kinda hook some times. With your mods all you would need is a pair of 26 x 10.5 mt e/t streets to hook at the track. you should be fine on the street with your tires on there now.

I occasionaly put my ETs on the street just to go to/from the track. I dont recomend it on a regular basis. But if you do, make sure to have 30 lbs in them or they have terriable road manners. Also try to keep them on a clean road. Road debris tends to scare them pretty bad.

The caltracs will increase the harshness a noticable amount. I have never had wheel hop or huge traction problems on the street as much as I have had on the track. I keep mine unloaded, then just twist em to where I want them when at the track. Dont have to get dirty or nothing, and I dont even need any tools for the track. The bars made me hook up much better on the street also, but man, the stiffness of the ride was to much for everyday driving in my book, and also made the handling on bumpy roads unsafe, with the rear bouncing all over the place.

What size tires do any of you with 20 rims and a 4-6 drop run? I was thinking 275/40/20 in the back and 255/35/20 in the front, but im not for sure if this will fit. it looks very close

You're gonna send the ABS system into a panic attack if you run different tire sizes front and rear......in order for the ABS to function correctly it HAS to see the same tire speed from ALL FOUR WHEELS
